Goodies in the mail

I received my aprons from the Mommy and Me swap. Both my partner and I are behind schedule, but we've been in constant communication, so neither one of us was freaking out. Holly is the best! The aprons that she made for Gator and I are absolutely adorable. Gator wouldn't take hers off all evening until I threatened what would happen if she "misplaced" it in the black hole that would be her room. Nope, she will treat her hand-made items with more care than that.

I have to say that in my email to Holly to thank for her for the gifties, I gushed. A lot. And I promised her the return favor of having her package no later than a week from today. I wasn't happy with the fabric I had originally chosen, so Monday it's off to JoAnn's to find something ab fab. I have some cute extras in mind as well.

Pictures of aprons tomorrow. (D wasn't in the mood to take photos tonight. Bah, and here I was all dolled up in makeup and crap due to volunteer time at the humane society today.)

P.S. Liz, you need to go adopt this tom cat that came in today. He's too freakin adorable. You know you want another cat.

U got the Q?

I'm going to let you in on a little secret. I absolutely dread grocery shopping day. The whole family makes the trip to Seward on Friday night or Saturday around noon on a weekly basis. Half the time I can't find what I need at Wal-Mart (I swear I'm going to boycott this place some day), and the other half I don't even know what the heck we purchased for $100+ because unloading the trunk of the car sure doesn't seem like we stretched our dollar very far.

I've been getting back into coupon clipping, and some weeks I do good, and some weeks not so much. After sorting through everything yesterday, I realized that I could have saved another $2.50 on diapers and feminine products. Grr. All because my Qs weren't sorted right and I had forgotten that I had them...

I've since started doing something like this--

Although, mine's not quite that organized since all my good tabbed dividers are at work.

6 months later...

I would love to be able to post some poignant reason for neglecting my blog for the past 6 months, but I've got nothing. Time simply got away from me between work, school, 2 active kids, and trying to get some knitting done. I am very much like my mother and burn the candle at both ends, and I've just added more fuel to the fire by committing to three more swaps just in time for the holidays.

The summer months kept me busy preparing for a baby shower for my sister-in-law and a birthday party for Little Man. Both events, while a hit, were cursed with bad news for my family. On Father's Day my cousin's truck was hit by a train while on his way to a service call. He thankfully survived, but is still under-going physical therapy. One leg was broken and his hip was shattered.

A few months later, another cousin was killed while working on his car. He was using a scissor jack to raise the car up so he could work on it, but did not have the car on jack stands. The jack slipped and he was crushed by the car.

My time has been spent with my family, enjoying every precious second of it.

The knitting that I did get done was in participation of the Ravelympics. You can find links in the sidebar to my projects.

I've been slowly updating the new template-- well I guess it's not new anymore since it got switched out in April, but I'm trying to get all my badges and links back together. I really cleaned house in my Photobucket account.
